Now all main  Hospitals in Thrissur and other cities of Kerala have  this  Department. All are   doing excellent service to all patients in their local area who are affected by  Diseases  of the Lungs .

Now , Pulmonologists are  getting  specialized   in Medical Intensive care . Critical Care Medicine also has come under their field .

The Covid pandemic in Kerala has highlighted the importance of this Specialty of Pulmonology . We manage   all the major hospital ICU with Covid patients .Often  a team including Lung specialist as leader is the backbone of ICU .

We Pulmonologists now manage Invasive and Noninvasive ventilation in Medical and Respiratory ICU . 

Tuberculosis  and Lung Cancers are major problems in India due to Malnutrition , Diabetes mellitis and air pollution and  cigarette smoking .  Commonest site of any infection due to organisms is also the Lung and the Upper airways and throat and nose. So we  sees almost all varieties of diseases affecting mankind.  So we  as a specialists  play a  very crucial role for overall health of all of us in Kerala and Thrissur and India .
